Fezibo Standing Desk

I live in a two bedroom apartment, and for the entirety of living there, my fiance has taken up the second bedroom for an office. Over the course of the 2.5 years we have lived there, I have slowly added a couch, TV and stand, display shelves, etc. to make the room more cozy and homey. Eventually, the time came where I felt like I, too, wanted a designated office setup. I have some clients I work with outside of my job and I also wanted a space to work on journaling, play my Switch, and just have a designated computer and work space that wasn’t a couch or my bed. I felt it was time to grow up a little and invest in setting up my dream home desk space.

I started off small, unsure of the direction I wanted to go in. At Target, I purchased a small writing desk which I was sure would fit my monitor, Switch, and Mac. Over the course of a few months, I realized that I really would prefer more desktop space so that I did not feel so cramped. I bit the bullet, did some measuring, and bought a standing desk. This of course had been the long term goal, which has worked out great, since my original writing desk has become a makeup vanity in my room - it all works out!

So, I felt it was about time to do a tour and review of my desk and office setup because I have taken the time to source what I wanted for my desk in terms of vision, functionality, and comfort. Without further adieu, please enjoy my desk tour!

Fezibo Standing Desk Features

First, let’s hear it for the desk. I knew I wanted a standing desk because I have a walking pad at home. Somewhere in the last 2 years, I knew the ultimate goal was to get a standing desk so that I could use my Switch, watch YouTube, or do work while still getting some movement in.

Based on the Target writing desk I had, I was able to take some measurements to know the size of desktop I needed. Since I already had a few items like a monitor and desk risers, I was able to figure out the appropriate width and length of the desktop I would need for ample space. Another important feature to me was either drawers or a shelf that rolled out for my keyboard and mouse. With my writing desk, I was able to store the keyboard and mouse away when I wanted to use the desktop space. Even though I was getting a larger desktop, I still wanted to be able to have a clear space when I needed it.

Ultimately, this desk fit my size and price specifications. I knew that getting a desk that had a rolling shelf would mean I would need to buy a set of desk drawers to go next to it for the items I had in the writing desk drawers.

This desk also had two hooks on the side for hanging headphones, bags, or other items. I really liked that it also had two holes on either side of the desk for cord management.

It would not be a standing desk without the number one feature - the ability to change its height! I really like how I can program three different height settings as well as raise or lower it at will.

It makes going from sitting to standing so much easier and less to worry about. The desk has slots for three different saved height settings, but you have the ability to move it up and down freely as well.

Assembly of the desk took me alone, maybe 90 minutes. I personally love building furniture, I always find it to be like an adult puzzle. I did have to use my own screwdriver at times, but that was not an issue. I found it to be reasonable to build, but be careful as the desktop itself, as well as the metal frame, is pretty heavy once assembled, so make sure you build in the vicinity of where you plan to use it.

One feature this desk did not have was built in power, which is something I would have really appreciated. I did end up purchasing a separate power cable, but this is a feature I wish the desk had.

The slide out shelf for a keyboard is one of the features I was specifically looking for in this desk. I wanted something with a large surface area, but also that I could store my keyboard and mouse when I wanted to use the surface for coloring or journaling. The shelf does sometimes get stuck or squeak, but I think this has to do more with my building of it than the desk itself.

Drawers

Since this desk did not have drawers, I knew I would need a set of drawers to keep all my previous desk items. I went to Amazon, HomeGoods, and Target before settling on one I liked. I found this set of drawers on Target’s website, and they have been perfect for what I need. I placed them next to my desk, not underneath, which has perfect access.

It is a set of three drawers on wheels and a top removable tray. Right now, I keep some books and loose items on the top for easy access, but you can also pull the tray out to carry around your home if you want.

I had a few drawer organizers around my apartment, so I added those into my first drawer for pens, tape, misc cords, etc. The bottom two drawers I have used for coloring books, notebooks, mouse pads, and other desk items. It has really been the perfect set of drawers for what I needed. They were also pretty simple to put together, maybe taking 45 minutes to an hour for my fiance and I to build.

Fezibo Standing Desk Add-Ons

What would a desk be without featuring some accessories? Here is a list of the other items I bought to make my desk really transform into a fully functional space for me.

Riser for monitor

The very first thing I bought for my original desk was a set of risers. I have a monitor that I plug my Mac into in order to have a large second desktop screen. I bought these white three piece risers to hold up the monitor. I like that they are adjustable in length for the appropriate desk size. When I upgraded from my first desk to the new standing desk, I actually shrunk the length of the risers to give me more room on the physical desk itself. I like that the risers don’t take up the whole desk, so that I have room for a flower vase, a candle, or another trinket.

Mat

Another item I knew I needed to purchase was a desk mat / blotter. This has helped me both protect the desk, liven up the space, and acts like a sort of mouse pad. I would still recommend getting a mousepad anyway (I did just buy a fabulous one at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, of all places). I think having a mat on the desk adds something to the room itself and just makes my space feel more cozy and embracing.

Keyboard

If only I could work from home! I had my eye on this keyboard for a while, and knew that as soon as I really leveled up my desk game, I would buy it. I love the colors, the sound it makes, and the fact that it is bluetooth. All I do is plug in the adapter to my Mac, and then my keyboard is usable. The keyboard makes a loud clacking which just scratches an itch for me. I like the round keys, they feel very comfortable on my fingers and hands.

Wrist pad

Along with my keyboard, I also purchased a keyboard wrist rest. Since I made the move to use a big keyboard, my wrists started bothering me. This wrist rest has been very helpful, not only while using the keyboard, but I also use it when playing my Switch on my desk monitor. Truthfully, I should use one when I am just on a laptop or my Mac too. I think this item has been hugely helpful to my home office setup, and I’m sure my wrists and hands will thank me in the future!

Riser for mac

Since I was using my Mac and desktop as an extended display, I wanted to get a riser for my Mac so I could maximize desk space. I bought this one and it has been the perfect addition to my desk. It only comes in three pieces and has been really easy to store away when I am not using it.

Mouse/TrackPad

Along with my keyboard, when I am using the big monitor, I also use an Apple Trackpad for my mouse. I like using the trackpad over a mouse because it mimics my Mac so easily, and is also bluetooth. I like that I can scroll with my fingers and zoom in/out with ease. Sometimes I do like to use an actual mouse, which I can just plug an adapter into my Mac for bluetooth use.

Cable Holder

Since the standing desk did not come with power, I did have to buy a cable holder and also a big time power cord. I had this one in my WFH list on Amazon, and it has been great so far. It is the perfect power cord because it has additional USB and USB-C ports. I am able to have so many things plugged in and not on a large strip. The cable holder has been easy to use as well because it clamps to the desk and requires no screws or tools for assembly.

Lamp

I bought this little lamp for my desk that adds a nice cozy glow to my desk and office space. I have it connected to a bluetooth adapter so I can control it with Alexa. It is only one color and one brightness setting, but you could always get another smart lightbulb to be able to control those things. I think it is such a small and sweet lamp that really adds to the environment of the office and sets a nice tone in the room.

Phone Stand/Charger

No desk would be complete without a phone charging stand! I have this one that I use in my bedroom, and this one on my desk. I upgraded my iPhone to the 12 for the sole purpose of using magnetic charging. I love that I can flip my phone horizontal and have a nice clock display while I am working.

Walking Pad!

Last but not least, one of the big reasons I switched to a standing desk was so that I could set up my walking pad underneath. This has been great for slow walking in the mornings while watching YouTube or checking emails. I will occasionally take a work call or play my Switch while on a 2 mph walking pace just to get moving. I like that I can control the speed with a remote and the walking pad automatically turns off after 1hr of continuous use. It’s a great way to keep me moving, and I would not have been able to work or play games and walk if it were not for getting this desk.

Conclusion/Summary

Overall, I am very happy with the standing desk I have. I like that I am able to walk while working or playing video games. The slide out shelf is great for storing my keyboard away when I want to color or play video games. I have so much more surface space than I did with my previous desk, so I don’t feel cramped. The only thing that would make this desk better is some kind of power adapter that came with it so you would not have to buy one separately.
